A highly accomplished academic and policy administrator, issues advocate, educator and scholar, Sven Jones brings over twenty years of well-honed expertise to his role as a key strategist on SSG client teams.

Sven has held leadership posts in several professional concentrations, including serving as a commissioned Army training officer, a teacher of incarcerated juveniles and adults, an administrator of staff disabilities programs for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a media liaison during crisis situations of national scope, a policy strategist and advocate, and an administrative faculty member for college disabilities programs. He has played a key role in the development of public policy and educational curriculum, where his work for disabled populations has earned him national recognition.

As one of the first special needs educational administrators within the federal prison system, he created a comprehensive disabilities program which provided counseling, diagnostic testing, small group instruction, employment advice, and vocational educational support for 100,000 adult learners. That success led Sven to writing national policy and a promotion to various leadership positions out of the field.

At George Mason University, he has managed disabilities cases on three campuses, developed policies aligned with government and university regulations, and helped guide industry standards and best practices for student services.

As Administrative Faculty/Director of the Students with Disabilities Office at Frederick (Maryland) Community College, Sven developed and managed the first-ever combined services for students with psychological, neurological and physical disabilities. He counseled public consumers, responded to disabilities-related emergencies, and advised the college’s executive leadership on related emergency/safety, legal and media issues.

In his nine years as Corrections Administrator and Executive for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in the Justice Department, Sven developed public image initiatives to impact congressional appropriations, and served as media relations advisor for executives in six regional offices and 104 institutions. He presided during the Bureau’s handling of such high-profile cases as Timothy McVeigh, John Gotti, 9-11 detainees and Martha Stewart. As a Field Operative in the FBI’s “Project Safe Streets”, he assisted efforts with the NYPD and Mayor Giuliani’s turn-of-the-century crisis plan.

Sven holds a Master of Policy Management degree from Georgetown University’s Public Policy Institute, and has studied organizational psychology at Columbia University’s Teachers College. He earned two Masters in Arts degrees, in Counseling and Special Education, as well as a B.S. in Psychology (with a minor in Political Science), from Santa Clara University.
