SSG President Art Stewart was interviewed by Mike Hackmer for the article “Green Technology Growing Strong in Washington Area,” a feature for the online news portal dcTechSource.com.
The article noted: “In a region more known for being the seat of the federal government and home to the Redskins, many companies are striving to be more innovative in developing technologies, solutions and best-practices that are environmentally sound, and conserve energy and resources. The resulting emergence of companies increasingly focused on green IT and technology is starting to recast the region into a different mold - one of an incubator for businesses focused on renewable energy and more environmentally-sound technologies.”
Art said that “a lot of the early green movement is rooted in technology. Now corporations include green technology as part of their overall strategy around corporate responsibility. Corporate responsibility is now the broad, connecting platform that ties green and other company initiatives together. I do agree that in many instances technology is driving a new consciousness for green strategy, for sustainability strategy and for responsibility strategy.”
Art also pointed out that a few DC-area technology companies are now developing software to help businesses better measure their carbon footprint and implement more sustainable office policies.

SSG President Art Stewart was interviewed by Andrew Rudin, managing principal of Outside Technologies, Inc., for an article on CustomerThink.com, a global online community that serves 300,000 newsletter subscribers and site visitors each month from 200 countries worldwide. In his article, “Social Selling and Corporate Social Responsibility are Natural Bedfellows” Rudin notes that, “for many corporations, numbers - the raw material of finance, and contained within spreadsheets - influence the ethical outcome of decision making. If bean counters, entrepreneurs, and starched-shirt executives can agree on anything, it’s that responsibility as a business strategy - even as a distinguishing competitive asset - merits strong consideration. “According to Art Stewart, a thought leader on CSR, and developer of the New Responsibility Paradigm, ‘Senior executives have an opportunity now more than any time in recent history to acquire an enduring leadership position for their organization and its brands in the ground swell of consciousness for, and accountability to, the public interest.’” Rudin adds that “No longer an oxymoron, today’s responsible corporation creates a catalyst to rethink entrenched views of marketing, business development, and sales.”

SSG President Art Stewart was sourced and quoted in the Crain’s Chicago Business Focus section in the article, “Accidental entrepreneurs: Adjust your expectations.”
“With 9% unemployment in the Chicago area and widespread hiring freezes, it’s no surprise that laid-off executives are going into business for themselves. If you’re one of these refugees from Corporate America, you very likely expect business ownership to change the way you work. But starting a business will also transform the way you and your family live,” notes reporter Samantha Stainburn in the article. Stainburn outlined three overriding issues: You'll have less time for family than before; your “high-wire act” will make your family anxious; and your family will judge you based on your business.” Art noted that customers will want to see you more than clients at your corporate job did because “you really are the brand.”
